I have been having problems with rational_factorization for years,
always arising in the MPWS stage when ECM fails. On this example my
linux machine produces the messgae "Aborted" and nothing more; on the
DEC alpha (OSF4) it gives

jec at selmer%fact
1606938044258990275541962092339879762538149464772560298452644
n = 1606938044258990275541962092339879762538149464772560298452644

*************************************
Zu viele Iterationen : Abbruch !
Keine Loesungen gefunden !
*************************************
An error occured by computing the solution

 error_handler::rational_factorization::mpqs::the factorization was
interrupted
IOT/Abort trap

--I have got very used to seeing those German messages for several
years! It is hard to reproduce since there is a lot of randomization in
the factorization procedures.

I don't know whether or not this is the same problem as in the posting.
On both macines I am using gcc-3.2 and LiDIA-2.1pre7.
